Alev Lenz is a German-Turkish songwriter, composer and singer. Lenz’s rich catalogue of compositions fuse distinctive musical worlds into something that is authentically hers - compelling songs for both record and screen.
While working on material for her forthcoming third LP ‘3’, Alev Lenz sang and co-wrote the title track of Anoushka Shankar's Grammy-nominated album 'Land of Gold', as well as composing her breakthrough track 'Fall Into Me' for Charlie Brooker’s Netflix series Black Mirror. Alev’s first single ‘May the Angels’ from her forthcoming album ‘3’ is part of the soundtrack to season two of critically-acclaimed Netflix series ‘Dark’. The series features songs from Peter Gabriel, Agnes Obel and Apparat, as well as a score composed by Ben Frost.
Alev Lenz’s second album single ‘The Chair’ is Alev’s ode to American writer, feminist and civil rights activist Audre Lorde and her text ‘The Master’s Tools Will Never Dismantle The Master’s House’. ‘The Chair’ is a call to arms and a critique of oppressive systems yet to be dismantled.
Alev Lenz will release her third album 3 on 27th September 2019 through SA Recordings. Through 12, almost completely acapella songs Alev explores both the personal and the political in her quest to better understand the breakdown of a relationship, motherhood and patriarchal constructs. Alev’s voice, intentionally distilled and extracted, is the focal point of the record along with her songwriting which is enhanced in selected songs by Grammy-award winning vocal ensemble Roomful of Teeth.
Alongside the release of Alev’s album, SA will also be releasing a 20 patch Alev Lenz - ‘3’ sample library. Alev has been working in close collaboration with Spitfire Audio to create a library that features an interactive album element as well as unique sounds inspired by her work as a composer. This is the first in a series of products tied in with SA album releases, focused on releasing artist-led libraries for music fans and music makers to create with.
